Flood Risk and Drainage

Assessing and managing flood risk is an essential part of any planning application, whether you are developing an existing structure or building a new one. In order to gain approval, you will need to demonstrate compliance with flood risk regulations and National Planning Policy Framework, as well as taking remedial action where needed.

Our team of expert drainage engineers and surveyors will undertake an independent assessment of the area and advise on the right solution.

With a range of flood risk and drainage services available, we closely work with businesses, local authorities and other public bodies such as the Environment Agency.

No matter what the size and constraints of a project, we provide robust evidence to help you determine your next steps and satisfy stakeholders. Over the years, we have worked with a wide range of clients, including domestic property owners, land estate managers, private commercial/ retail/ residential developers and housing developers.

With high levels of expertise within the team, we regularly undertake complex projects – including a site earmarked for a residential care facilities, close care and assisted living units. Initially believed to be an undevelopable because of its proximity to historic river and highway flooding, we worked with the Environment Agency and the local authority to address surface water drainage issues. Delivering an innovative solution, we delivered a strategy that meant the project could go ahead.

We are also proud to have been commissioned by Silverstone Circuits, the home of British motor racing, to review the drainage and service apparatus and address a surface water flooding issue in the car park. Tackling a number of key commercial challenges, this meant the venue could welcome up to 10,000 visitors to its open-air amphitheatre.
